How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the freezer before accessing controls or sensors.
- Adjust setting: Set the control to a warmer setting and wait 24 hours. Use a thermometer to verify around 0°F (-18°C).
- Check thermostat (mechanical): On dial-controlled Maytag freezers, remove the control cover and test the cold control thermostat for continuity. It should open when turned to OFF. Replace if stuck closed.
- Test thermistor (electronic): Measure resistance and compare to spec. Replace if out of range.
