Blocked Defrost Drain
Water or ice forming on the bottom of the freezer compartment

Possible Causes
Ice blockage in defrost drain hole, Food debris clogging drain tube, Drain heater (if fitted) not working, Cabinet not level causing poor drainage
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the freezer before defrosting or working near the evaporator.
Steps:
- 1. Defrost ice: Remove drawers and allow the freezer to defrost until ice at the bottom and around the drain area melts. Use towels to absorb water.
- 2. Locate drain hole: Usually at the lowest point under the evaporator cover. Remove any visible debris.
- 3. Clear drain tube: Use a flexible plastic tube or pipe cleaner to gently clear the drain. You can flush with warm (not boiling) water using a syringe or turkey baster.
- 4. Check leveling: Ensure the freezer is slightly tilted back so water flows to the drain.
- 5. Drain heater (if present): On some models, a small heater keeps the drain clear. If ice repeatedly blocks the drain, the heater may be faulty and require replacement.
