Possible Causes
Door not fully closed, warped door gasket, misaligned cabinet or hinges, failed door switch, obstruction preventing full closure
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: No internal electrical work is required for basic checks; keep hands clear of moving parts.
- Check for obstructions: Ensure shelves, bins, or food packages are not protruding and blocking the door from sealing.
- Inspect gasket: Examine the door gasket for tears, gaps, or hardened sections. Close the door on a sheet of paper at several points; if the paper pulls out easily, the seal is weak there.
- Level the unit: Use a level to ensure the freezer is slightly tilted back so the door closes by itself. Adjust front leveling legs as needed.
- Check door switch: Press the door switch manually; if the alarm does not stop or the interior light stays on, the switch may be faulty (see door switch repair steps in E9).
- Gasket repair: Warm stiff gasket areas with a hair dryer on low and gently reshape to improve sealing. Replace the door gasket if it is torn or permanently deformed.
