Freezer displays E2 and may run continuously or cycle erratically; temperature may be inaccurate.

Safety: Disconnect power before accessing internal components.

• Confirm the code: Note if E2 appears immediately at power-up or after running for some time; persistent immediate errors often indicate a sensor or wiring fault.
• Locate the freezer thermistor: On Monogram upright freezers, this sensor is often behind a small plastic cover on the interior wall or clipped near the air return grill.
• Visual inspection: Remove the cover and inspect the sensor body and wires. Look for cracks, discoloration, or ice buildup around the sensor. Gently clear any ice with a warm cloth (do not use sharp tools).
• Test the sensor: Disconnect the thermistor and measure resistance with a multimeter at current freezer temperature. Compare to expected NTC values (commonly 5–50 kΩ depending on temperature). If reading is open or shorted, replace.
• Check harness to board: Access the main control board and verify continuity from the thermistor connector to the board. Repair any broken or pinched wires with proper crimp connectors and heat-shrink tubing.
• Replace sensor: Install a new freezer temperature sensor (thermistor), ensuring it is fully seated in its holder and not dangling in open air.

If E2 persists with a known-good sensor and wiring, the main control board may be defective and should be evaluated by a technician.
