Possible Causes
Failed magnetic reed door switch, misaligned door magnet, broken door switch wiring in hinge area, defective main control door input circuit
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off power before removing door switch assemblies.
- Locate door switch: On Monogram freezers, the door switch is typically in the cabinet frame near the top or side, or integrated into the hinge area.
- Check operation: With power on briefly, press the switch plunger (if visible). The interior light should turn off and the alarm should silence. If not, the switch or wiring may be faulty. Turn power off again before proceeding.
- Inspect magnet (if magnetic switch): Ensure the door magnet is present and aligned with the switch location.
- Test switch: Remove the switch from the cabinet and test continuity with a multimeter while pressing and releasing the plunger. Replace if it does not change state.
- Inspect hinge wiring: If the switch is in the door, inspect the wire bundle at the hinge for breaks or pinches.
- Replace switch: Install a new door switch assembly, reconnect wiring, and secure it in the cabinet.
If the switch and wiring are good but E9 persists, the main control board input circuit may be defective and require professional service.
