Possible Causes

Stuck or shorted temperature sensor, main control board temperature calibration fault, failed damper (on combo units), relay on control board stuck closed

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Disconnect power before accessing sensors or control boards.

  • Verify setpoint: Confirm the temperature setting is not accidentally set to the coldest level.
  • Check sensor: Test the freezer thermistor as described in E2. A shorted sensor can cause the control to overcool.
  • Inspect control board: Look for signs of damage or corrosion on the main control board.
  • Reset control: Power off at the breaker for 5–10 minutes, then restore. If overcooling resumes and the sensor is good, the control board may be defective.

Persistent overcooling with a good thermistor usually requires replacement of the main control board by a qualified technician.
