Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the freezer before accessing the compressor area. Sealed system work must be done by a certified technician.
- Listen and feel: With the unit plugged in, listen for compressor hum or clicking. If you hear repeated clicks every few minutes, the start device may be failing. Unplug again before proceeding.
- Access compressor: Remove the rear lower access panel to expose the compressor and start components.
- Inspect start relay/overload: Remove the plastic cover on the compressor terminals. Check the start relay and overload for signs of burning or rattling pieces inside.
- Test relay: With a multimeter, check continuity through the start device according to its pin layout. Replace the compressor start relay and overload if open or physically damaged.
- Check compressor windings: Measure resistance between compressor terminals. Extremely high or zero readings indicate a failed compressor.
If replacing the start components does not restore cooling, or if the compressor windings test bad, a compressor or sealed system repair is required and should be performed by a Monogram-authorized technician.
