Possible Causes
Stuck relay causing continuous compressor operation, Faulty temperature sensor calibration, Software fault in control module, Shorted wiring causing incorrect sensor readings
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect power before accessing the control module or sensor wiring.
Steps:
- 1. Verify actual temperature: Use a freezer thermometer to confirm if the unit is overfreezing (e.g., below -25°C) or not reaching setpoint.
- 2. Sensor check: Test the freezer compartment NTC sensor as described for E1. Replace if readings are out of expected range.
- 3. Control relay inspection: Access the main control module and inspect the compressor relay. If it is welded closed (compressor runs constantly even when power to the relay coil is off), the board must be replaced.
- 4. Wiring inspection: Check sensor wiring for shorts between conductors or to chassis, which can cause false readings.
- 5. Replace control module if needed: If sensors and wiring are correct, replace the main control module to restore proper temperature regulation.
