Possible Causes

Clogged defrost drain hole, Ice plug in drain tube, Debris blocking drain trough, Drain heater (if fitted) not working

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the freezer before defrosting or working near the evaporator. Use towels to catch meltwater.

Steps:

  • 1. Empty and access drain: Remove drawers and the rear inner panel to expose the evaporator and drain trough.
  • 2. Clear ice: Use warm (not boiling) water in a turkey baster or syringe to flush the drain hole at the bottom of the trough. Repeat until water flows freely into the drain pan above the compressor.
  • 3. Remove debris: Use a flexible plastic probe or pipe cleaner to gently clear any debris from the drain tube.
  • 4. Check drain heater (if present): Some Neff models have a small heater near the drain. Inspect for damage and test continuity. Replace if open.
  • 5. Reassemble: Dry the area, refit the panel, and monitor for recurrence.
