Display shows AL and an alarm sounds intermittently, even though the freezer seems to be cooling normally.

Possible Causes
Faulty door switch or lid switch, Misaligned door magnet (on magnetic reed switch models), Broken door switch wiring, Control PCB misinterpreting door status
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the freezer before removing door switch components.
Steps to fix AL (door alarm):
- 1. Check door closure: Ensure the door or lid closes fully and evenly. Look for items or baskets preventing a tight seal.
- 2. Inspect door switch: Locate the door switch (usually a small plunger switch in the frame or a magnetic reed switch). Press it manually; the interior light should turn on/off accordingly.
- 3. Test switch continuity: With the freezer unplugged, remove the switch and test it with a multimeter. It should open and close reliably when pressed/released.
- 4. Check magnet alignment: On models with a magnetic reed switch, ensure the magnet in the door aligns correctly with the switch in the cabinet. Adjust or resecure if loose.
- 5. Replace faulty switch: Install a new New World door switch if the old one is intermittent or open circuit.
- 6. Wiring and PCB: If the switch is good but AL persists, inspect the wiring back to the main control PCB. A PCB input fault may require board replacement.
Tip: A faulty door switch can also prevent the evaporator fan from running (on some models), affecting cooling.
