Possible Causes
Damaged or hardened door gasket, Door not closing fully due to misaligned hinges, Frequent door opening, Warped cabinet frame or door
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: No electrical work is required for basic checks, but unplug the freezer if adjusting hinges or removing the door.
Steps to reduce excessive frost:
- 1. Inspect gasket: Examine the door gasket all around for tears, gaps, or areas not contacting the cabinet.
- 2. Paper test: Close the door on a strip of paper at various points. If the paper pulls out easily, the seal is weak there.
- 3. Clean and soften: Clean the gasket with warm soapy water. Slightly warming and gently reshaping warped sections can improve sealing.
- 4. Adjust hinges: If the door is sagging, adjust the door hinges to raise or realign it so it closes squarely.
- 5. Replace gasket: If the seal is damaged or permanently deformed, install a new New World door gasket specific to your model.
Tip: Minimize door openings and avoid leaving the door ajar during loading to reduce moisture ingress.
