Safety Warning
This repair may involve working with high voltage components or water connections. Always unplug the appliance before removing any panels.
If you are not confident in your ability to perform this repair safely, we strongly recommend contacting a professional technician.

Possible Causes
Faulty thermostat or temperature sensor, Oversized compressor for cabinet, Poor ventilation causing rapid temperature swings, Main control PCB hysteresis settings faulty
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the freezer before accessing controls or sensors.
Steps to address short cycling:
- 1. Verify temperature setting: Ensure the setpoint is reasonable (around −18°C) and not at extremes.
- 2. Check sensor placement: Confirm the cabinet NTC sensor or thermostat bulb is not directly in the cold air stream from the evaporator fan.
- 3. Inspect thermostat: On mechanical models, a faulty thermostat can cause rapid cycling; replace if suspected.
- 4. Improve airflow: Ensure good ventilation around the freezer and avoid blocking internal air passages with food.
- 5. PCB replacement: If sensors and thermostat are correct but cycling remains abnormal, the main control PCB may have incorrect hysteresis or a fault and may need replacement.
Note: Short cycling can shorten compressor life; address promptly.
