Possible Causes
Thermostat stuck closed (mechanical models), Misreading cabinet NTC sensor, Main control PCB not cycling compressor off, Thermostat sensing bulb out of position
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the freezer before accessing the thermostat or control board.
Steps to correct over‑freezing:
- 1. Adjust control: Turn the thermostat or digital setting to a slightly warmer position and monitor for 24 hours.
- 2. Mechanical thermostat check: Rotate the thermostat knob from coldest to warmest. If there is no audible click and the compressor never stops, replace the thermostat.
- 3. Sensor placement: Ensure the cabinet NTC sensor or thermostat sensing bulb is correctly positioned away from the evaporator and not touching very cold surfaces.
- 4. Replace faulty control: If the compressor continues to run excessively, replace the thermostat (mechanical) or the main control PCB (electronic models) after confirming sensor integrity.
Note: Extremely low temperatures can cause packaging to split and increase frost; resolving control issues will improve efficiency.
