Possible Causes
Low refrigerant charge due to leak, Blocked capillary tube or filter‑drier, Weak compressor, Condenser coil heavily clogged with dust
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the freezer before cleaning coils or removing panels. Do not attempt to open the sealed refrigeration system yourself.
Steps to address poor freezing:
- 1. Check temperature setting: Ensure the thermostat or digital setpoint is at the recommended −18°C.
- 2. Inspect door seal: Check the door gasket for gaps, tears, or warping. Replace if it does not seal all around.
- 3. Clean condenser: On models with accessible condenser coils or a condenser fan, vacuum dust and debris. Ensure at least several centimeters of clearance around the freezer for airflow.
- 4. Check frost pattern: Remove the inner rear panel and observe the evaporator after 15–20 minutes of running. A small frost patch only near the inlet suggests a refrigerant leak or blockage; an even light frost over most of the coil is normal.
- 5. Professional sealed system service: If the frost pattern is abnormal or the compressor runs continuously without reaching temperature, contact a refrigeration technician to check for leaks, recharge, or replace the compressor or filter‑drier.
Note: Operating a freezer with a refrigerant leak can damage the compressor; seek service promptly.
