Safety: Unplug the freezer and remove all food before cleaning.
Steps:
- 1. Empty and defrost: Remove all contents and allow any ice to melt.
- 2. Clean interior: Wash walls, shelves, and baskets with a solution of mild detergent and baking soda. Rinse and dry thoroughly.
- 3. Clean gasket: Wipe the door gasket folds with a mild bleach solution to kill mold, then rinse and dry.
- 4. Drain pan: Access and clean the drain pan above the compressor, removing any sludge or mold.
- 5. Air out: Leave the door open for several hours to ventilate before restarting.
