Possible Causes
Clogged defrost drain hole, frozen drain tube, misaligned drain funnel, debris in drain pan
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the freezer and be prepared for water spillage.
Steps:
- 1. Access drain: Remove the inner rear panel to expose the evaporator and locate the drain hole beneath it.
- 2. Clear ice: Use warm (not boiling) water in a squeeze bottle or turkey baster to melt ice in the drain hole. Repeat until water flows freely.
- 3. Clean drain tube: From the rear, locate the drain tube leading to the drain pan. Gently insert a flexible plastic line to clear debris.
- 4. Check drain pan: Ensure the drain pan above the compressor is correctly positioned and not cracked or overflowing.
- 5. Reassemble: Replace panels and monitor for further leaks.
