Possible Causes
Open defrost heater, failed defrost thermostat/thermal fuse, faulty defrost timer function in main PCB, sensor misreading evaporator temperature
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the freezer. Heater wiring is live during operation.
Steps:
- 1. Manual defrost: Allow all ice to melt completely. Do not use sharp tools.
- 2. Test heater and fuse: As described in H23, check continuity of the defrost heater and thermal fuse and replace if open.
- 3. Check defrost sensor: Verify the evaporator thermistor is correctly positioned and within resistance specifications.
- 4. Control function: If all components test good, the main PCB may not be initiating defrost; replacement is required.
