Possible Causes
Damaged lid gasket, Lid not closing flat, Warm humid room air contacting cold lid edge
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the freezer if you will be working with the lid open for an extended time.
Steps:
- 1. Inspect gasket: Check for cracks, gaps, or areas where the gasket does not contact the cabinet.
- 2. Clean gasket and surfaces: Wipe the gasket and mating surface with warm soapy water to remove dirt and improve sealing.
- 3. Adjust lid: Ensure the lid is not warped and that hinges are tight. Adjust hinge screws to improve alignment if needed.
- 4. Replace gasket: If the gasket is damaged, replace it with an RCA-compatible lid gasket, pressing it firmly into the channel.
- 5. Control humidity: High room humidity can cause some condensation; use a dehumidifier if necessary.
Note: A good lid seal reduces frost and energy use.
