Possible Causes

Loose condenser fan shroud, Compressor lines touching cabinet, Uneven leveling feet, Loose internal panels or shelves

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the freezer before adjusting internal components or accessing the rear panel.

Steps to reduce noise:

  • 1. Level the freezer: Use a level to check side-to-side and front-to-back. Adjust the front leveling feet until the cabinet is stable and does not rock.
  • 2. Check for cabinet contact: Ensure the freezer is not touching the wall or cabinets, which can amplify vibration. Leave at least a few inches of clearance.
  • 3. Inspect condenser fan: Remove the rear lower panel and check that the condenser fan blades are not hitting shrouds or wires. Tighten any loose mounting screws and reposition wires.
  • 4. Secure tubing: Look for refrigerant lines or capillary tubes touching each other or the cabinet. Gently bend them away and insert foam or rubber spacers to prevent rattling.
  • 5. Tighten interior parts: Inside the freezer, ensure shelves, baskets, and the evaporator cover are firmly seated and not vibrating.

Note: Some compressor hum and fan noise is normal. Focus on eliminating sharp rattles or metallic buzzing.
