Possible Causes
Aging cabinet thermistor, Poor sensor placement, Control board calibration error
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the freezer before accessing sensors or the control board.
Steps to correct reading:
- 1. Verify with reliable thermometer: Place a quality freezer thermometer in the center of the compartment and allow several hours for stabilization.
- 2. Compare readings: If the display is off by more than a few degrees, the sensor or control may be inaccurate.
- 3. Inspect thermistor: Locate and test the cabinet thermistor as described for E1. Replace if resistance does not match expected values.
- 4. Check sensor placement: Ensure the sensor is not touching the evaporator coil or walls, which can skew readings. It should sense cabinet air temperature.
- 5. Control board: If a new sensor does not correct the discrepancy, the control board's calibration may be off and require replacement.
Tip: Always rely on an independent thermometer to verify freezer performance.
