Possible Causes

Failed ice maker temperature sensor, Ice maker module harness damage, Loose connector at ice maker or PCB, Faulty ice maker assembly

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Warning: Disconnect power and shut off the water supply before servicing the ice maker.

  • Reset ice maker: On many Samsung models, press and hold the ice maker test/reset button for about 5 seconds until a chime sounds. If 14E returns, continue.
  • Remove ice bucket and cover: Pull out the ice bucket and remove any screws or clips holding the ice maker cover.
  • Inspect sensor and wiring: The sensor is usually integrated into the ice maker housing or mounted nearby. Check for broken wires, corrosion, or ice buildup around the sensor.
  • Test sensor (if separate): If the sensor is a separate NTC, disconnect and measure resistance. Replace if out of spec.
  • Replace ice maker assembly if needed: If the sensor is integrated and not serviceable separately, replace the entire Samsung ice maker assembly. Disconnect the harness, remove mounting screws, swap in the new unit, and reconnect.
  • Restore power and water: Turn power and water back on, run a test cycle, and monitor for 14E. Persistent errors may indicate a PCB issue.
