Possible Causes
Evaporator fan motor failure, Ice obstruction around fan, Loose fan connector, Damaged fan harness, Main PCB fan driver fault
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Warning: Disconnect power before removing any panels.
- Determine which fan: On some Samsung models, 22E refers to the refrigerator fan; on others, it may indicate the freezer fan. Listen for which compartment lacks airflow.
- Access the affected fan: Remove shelves/drawers and the rear interior panel of the affected compartment.
- Inspect for ice: If the fan is encased in ice, defrost the area completely. Check that the defrost drain is not blocked, as this can cause recurring ice buildup.
- Check fan operation: Spin the blade by hand and inspect for damage. Verify the wiring harness is intact and the connector is fully seated.
- Test and replace: Measure motor resistance; replace the Samsung evaporator fan motor if open or shorted. Transfer the fan blade to the new motor and reinstall.
- Reassemble and monitor: Refit covers and restore power. Confirm airflow and that 22E does not return. If the fan is good but not powered, the PCB may need replacement.
