Display shows 24E; freezer section has heavy frost on back wall and poor cooling.

Warning: Always disconnect power before servicing the defrost system.

• Manual defrost: Unplug the unit and leave doors open until all ice on the freezer evaporator melts (12–24 hours). This will temporarily restore airflow and allow inspection.
• Access evaporator: Remove freezer drawers and rear interior panel to expose the evaporator coil and defrost components.
• Inspect heater and wiring: The defrost heater is usually a metal or glass-encased element at the bottom or woven through the evaporator. Check for visible breaks, burns, or disconnected wires.
• Test defrost heater: Disconnect heater leads and measure resistance. A typical Samsung heater will show low resistance (tens of ohms). An open circuit means the heater is bad and must be replaced.
• Check defrost thermostat/thermal fuse: If present, test continuity when the thermostat is cold (below freezing). Replace if open.
• Replace faulty parts: Install a new Samsung defrost heater and/or thermostat as needed. Ensure all connections are tight and properly insulated.
• Reassemble and test: Reinstall the evaporator cover, ensuring foam seals are intact. Restore power and monitor over several days. If 24E returns, the PCB or sensor may be at fault and require professional diagnosis.
