Possible Causes
Failed freezer compartment temperature sensor, Broken or shorted sensor harness in cabinet, Oxidized connector at main PCB, Defective main control board (PCB)
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Warning: Always disconnect power before accessing internal components.
- Check for software reset: Unplug the unit for 5–10 minutes. Restore power and see if 2E clears. If it returns, proceed.
- Locate the compartment sensor: The freezer compartment sensor is usually behind a small plastic cover on the side or rear interior wall, separate from the evaporator sensor.
- Inspect and test: Remove the cover, gently pull out the sensor and harness. Look for moisture intrusion, corrosion, or damaged insulation. Test resistance with a multimeter; compare to Samsung NTC specs (around 5 kΩ at 77°F/25°C). Replace if out of range.
- Replace sensor: Disconnect the old sensor from the harness, connect the new Samsung freezer sensor, and tuck it back into the cavity. Ensure the grommet or foam seal is intact to prevent warm air leaks.
- Check PCB connection: If accessible, verify the sensor harness is firmly seated on the main PCB and not burnt or loose.
- Reassemble and test: Restore power and monitor the display. If 2E persists with a new sensor and good wiring, the main PCB may require replacement by a technician.
