Possible Causes
Ice maker motor failure, Ice maker sensor fault, Jammed ice cubes in mold, Ice maker harness damage, Faulty main PCB control to ice maker
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the appliance and shut off water before working on the ice maker.
- Reset ice maker: Press and hold the ice maker test button for about 5 seconds until a chime sounds. If 39E returns, continue.
- Check for jams: Remove the ice bucket and inspect the ice mold for stuck or oversized cubes. Clear any obstructions.
- Inspect wiring and connectors: Remove the ice maker cover and verify the harness is fully seated and not damaged.
- Test ice maker module: If you have access to the service manual, follow the diagnostic steps to test the ice maker motor and sensor. If the module fails tests, replace the entire Samsung ice maker assembly.
- Install new ice maker: Disconnect the harness, remove mounting screws, swap in the new assembly, and reconnect.
- Restore power and water: Turn power and water back on, run a test cycle, and monitor for 39E. If the error persists, the PCB or wiring in the door may be faulty.
