Possible Causes

Faulty ice room sensor or flex-zone sensor, Damaged sensor wiring in door or cabinet, Loose connector at ice maker module or PCB, Defective main PCB input channel

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Turn off power at the breaker or unplug the unit before working on the ice maker or flex-zone.

  • Identify which sensor: On many Samsung freezers, 8E refers to the ice room sensor (in the ice maker compartment) or a flex-zone drawer sensor. Consult the model's tech sheet if available.
  • Access the sensor: Remove the ice bucket and ice maker cover. For flex-zone, remove the drawer and inner cover. Locate the small sensor clipped to the wall or duct.
  • Inspect wiring: Look for pinched, broken, or moisture-damaged wires. Ensure connectors are fully seated.
  • Test sensor: Disconnect the sensor and measure resistance at room temperature. Compare to Samsung NTC specs. Replace if out of range.
  • Replace sensor: Install the new Samsung sensor, clip it securely in place, and route wires as originally to avoid interference with moving parts.
  • Reassemble and test: Refit covers and drawers, restore power, and check if 8E clears. If the error persists, the main PCB or door harness may be faulty and should be evaluated by a technician.
