Possible Causes

Loose condenser fan shroud, Vibrating copper refrigerant lines touching cabinet, Worn evaporator fan motor bearings, Compressor mounting grommets hardened or loose

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the freezer before touching moving parts or metal tubing.

  • Identify noise source: Listen at the back (compressor/condenser fan) and inside the freezer (evaporator fan) to locate the noise.
  • Check leveling: Ensure the freezer is level front-to-back and side-to-side using the adjustable front legs. An unlevel unit can cause vibrations.
  • Inspect condenser fan area: Remove the rear panel and check that the fan shroud and motor are firmly mounted. Tighten any loose screws.
  • Secure tubing: Look for copper lines touching each other or the cabinet. Gently bend them apart and insert foam or rubber spacers to prevent rattling.
  • Check evaporator fan: Inside the freezer, remove the rear interior panel and inspect the fan. If the motor is noisy or the blade is damaged, replace the Samsung evaporator fan motor and/or blade.
  • Compressor noise: Some compressor hum is normal. If the compressor is excessively loud or knocking, consult a technician; compressor replacement may be required.
