Possible Causes
Dirty condenser coils, Weak condenser fan motor, Evaporator fan not running at full speed, Partial refrigerant leak, Door gasket leaks allowing warm air in
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the unit before cleaning coils or accessing fans.
- Verify temperature setting: Set freezer to -2°F to 0°F (-18°C). Avoid frequent door openings while testing.
- Clean condenser coils: Pull the freezer away from the wall, remove the rear lower panel, and vacuum the condenser coils and fan area thoroughly.
- Check door seals: Inspect the Samsung freezer door gasket for gaps, tears, or hardened sections. Close a sheet of paper in the door; it should have firm resistance when pulled. Replace the gasket if it does not seal.
- Check evaporator fan: Open the freezer and hold the door switch closed. You should hear the evaporator fan running. If weak or noisy, the fan motor may need replacement.
- Inspect for frost buildup: Remove the rear interior panel. If the evaporator is heavily iced, the defrost system may be failing (see defrost-related faults).
- Monitor performance: After cleaning and checks, allow 24 hours. If temperatures remain high, a sealed system or control issue may require professional service.
