• Listen for compressor and fans: With the door closed (or door switch held), listen at the back for the compressor and condenser fan. If both are silent for long periods, suspect a control or compressor issue.
• Check condenser coils: Pull the unit out and inspect the condenser coils. Clean with a vacuum and brush if clogged with dust.
• Inspect for frost pattern: Remove the freezer rear interior panel. If the evaporator has no frost at all while the compressor is running, there may be a sealed system problem (refrigerant leak or compressor failure).
• Power reset: Unplug for 10 minutes and restore power to clear control glitches.
• Call a professional: If the compressor does not run or there is no frost pattern, a technician must check compressor operation, refrigerant charge, and the main PCB.
