Possible Causes

Clogged defrost drain, Cracked or misaligned defrost drain tube, Loose water inlet line to ice maker, Frozen defrost drain causing overflow

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the unit and shut off the water supply before working on water lines.

  • Identify leak source: Check inside the freezer for ice sheets on the bottom or water under drawers. Outside, inspect behind and under the unit for drips.
  • Clear defrost drain: Remove the rear interior panel and locate the drain hole beneath the evaporator. Use warm (not boiling) water and a turkey baster to flush the drain until water flows freely into the drain pan.
  • Inspect drain tube: From the back, remove the rear panel and check the drain tube leading to the drain pan. Ensure it is not cracked, disconnected, or blocked.
  • Check water inlet connections: Inspect the Samsung water inlet valve and tubing to the ice maker for leaks. Tighten compression fittings and replace any cracked tubing.
  • Defrost frozen drain: If the drain is frozen, gently thaw with warm water and ensure the drain heater (if equipped) is functioning.
  • Monitor: After reassembly, monitor for further leaks over several days.
