Display shows dF or DEF; freezer may pause cooling during this time.

Note: On many Sharp freezers, dF or DEF simply indicates that the unit is in an automatic defrost cycle.

• Do not unplug: Allow the freezer to complete the defrost cycle (typically 15–30 minutes). The code should clear automatically.
• Check temperature: The interior temperature may rise slightly during defrost but should return to normal afterward.
• Monitor behavior: If the code remains indefinitely or cooling does not resume, then investigate the defrost system (heater, sensor, control board) as described under E3 and E5.
