Freezer displays E2 and may run continuously or shut down cooling intermittently; temperature control seems inaccurate.
Safety Warning
This repair may involve working with high voltage components or water connections. Always unplug the appliance before removing any panels.
If you are not confident in your ability to perform this repair safely, we strongly recommend contacting a professional technician.

How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety warning: Always unplug the freezer before removing covers or touching internal wiring.
Diagnostic steps:
- Confirm code behavior: Note when E2 appears (immediately at power-on or after running). Persistent immediate E2 often indicates an open or shorted sensor.
- Locate ambient sensor: On many Sharp freezers, the ambient or cabinet sensor is located near the air inlet, behind the control panel, or in the upper rear wall of the compartment. Consult the wiring diagram (often behind the rear panel) for exact location.
- Visual inspection: Remove the control panel cover or interior trim where the sensor is mounted. Check for broken insulation, moisture intrusion, or a disconnected plug.
- Measure resistance: Disconnect the sensor from the harness and measure resistance with a multimeter. Compare to the expected NTC curve (commonly 5–20 kΩ at 25°C). If the reading is open, shorted, or far off spec, replace the sensor.
- Check harness continuity: If the sensor tests good, test continuity from the sensor connector to the main PCB connector. Repair any pinched or broken wires, especially where they pass through cabinet channels.
- Control board check: If wiring and sensor are confirmed good, the main control PCB may have a failed sensor input circuit. Inspect for burnt traces or components. Replacement of the PCB is usually required.
After repair: Reassemble all panels, restore power, clear the error by unplugging for 5 minutes if needed, and verify that E2 does not reappear and that temperature control is stable.
