Possible Causes

Clogged defrost drain tube, Cracked or misaligned drain pan, Excessive frost melt due to door left open, Condensation from high humidity and poor door seal

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the freezer before removing panels. Mop up water to prevent slipping.

Steps:

  • Locate drain: Inside the freezer, the defrost drain is usually at the bottom of the evaporator area. Remove the rear interior panel if needed.
  • Clear blockage: Use warm water and a small flexible tube or pipe cleaner to flush the drain hole and tube. Ensure water flows freely to the drain pan under the unit.
  • Inspect drain pan: From the rear, check the plastic drain pan above the compressor. Ensure it is not cracked and is properly seated.
  • Door seal: Verify the door gasket is sealing to minimize excess frost and defrost water.
