Possible Causes

Failed evaporator fan motor, Ice obstruction around fan blades, Broken fan wiring harness, Faulty fan driver circuit on main control board

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Disconnect the freezer from mains before accessing the fan area.

  • 1. Check for airflow: With the door closed for several minutes and then opened, you should normally feel cold air blowing from vents. If not, suspect the fan.
  • 2. Inspect for ice blockage: Remove drawers and the inner rear panel to access the evaporator and fan assembly. If the fan is encased in ice, fully defrost the area with warm air and towels.
  • 3. Spin the fan by hand: Gently rotate the fan blades. They should move freely without scraping. If stiff or seized, the motor is likely faulty.
  • 4. Check wiring and connector: Inspect the fan motor connector and wiring for damage or loose contacts. Reseat the connector at both the fan and control board ends if accessible.
  • 5. Voltage test (advanced): With the freezer powered and door switch held closed, carefully measure voltage at the fan connector (use extreme caution). If correct voltage is present but the fan does not run, replace the fan motor.
  • 6. Replace fan motor: Remove mounting screws or clips, disconnect wiring, and install a Siemens-compatible evaporator fan motor. Ensure the fan blades are correctly oriented and not rubbing on the shroud.
  • 7. Reassemble and test: Refit the rear panel and drawers, restore power, and confirm that the fan runs and E6 clears.

Note: If no voltage is supplied to a known-good fan, the main control board or door switch circuit may be defective and should be checked by a technician.
