Possible Causes
Warped or damaged door gasket, Loose or bent door hinges, Freezer not level causing door to swing, Ice buildup around door frame
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: No electrical work is required, but ensure the freezer is stable before adjusting.
- 1. Check for obstructions: Ensure no food packages or baskets are preventing full door closure.
- 2. Inspect gasket: Look for gaps between the gasket and cabinet. Clean the gasket with warm soapy water and dry. Use a hair dryer on low to gently warm and reshape minor deformations.
- 3. Level the freezer: Adjust the front leveling feet so the cabinet is slightly tilted back; this helps the door close and stay shut.
- 4. Tighten hinges: Check hinge screws at the top and bottom of the door. Tighten any loose screws and ensure the door is aligned with the cabinet.
- 5. Replace gasket if necessary: If the gasket is torn or hardened, replace it with a Siemens-compatible door gasket, pressing it fully into the groove around the door.
Note: A poorly sealing door increases energy use and causes frost buildup; correct alignment is essential.
