Possible Causes
Door switch stuck in open position, Misaligned door not pressing switch, Shorted door switch wiring, Control board not recognizing door closed state
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the freezer before working on the door switch or light circuit.
- 1. Confirm symptom: Look through a small gap as the door closes to see if the light goes off. If it remains on, proceed.
- 2. Inspect door alignment: Ensure the door is not sagging and that hinges are tight. Adjust if necessary so the door fully engages the switch.
- 3. Test door switch: Remove and test the switch with a multimeter. Replace if it does not change state when pressed.
- 4. Check wiring: Inspect for shorts that could hold the light circuit active.
- 5. Replace control board (if needed): If the switch and wiring are good but the light remains on, the control board output may be stuck and require replacement.
Note: A light stuck on can significantly raise temperature near the top of the freezer; address promptly to protect food.
