Possible Causes
Failed compressor, Severe refrigerant leak in Siemens sealed system, Blocked capillary tube or filter-drier, Main control board not powering compressor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the freezer before removing rear panels. Do not attempt to open the sealed refrigerant system yourself.
- 1. Check basic power: Confirm the outlet has power and the freezer is switched on. Verify that interior lights and display work.
- 2. Listen for compressor: Place your hand on the compressor at the back. It should vibrate slightly and become warm when running. If it is cold and silent for more than 20–30 minutes, it may not be starting.
- 3. Check for condenser warmth: Carefully feel the condenser coils or metal grid at the back. They should be warm when the compressor runs. If always cold, cooling is not occurring.
- 4. Inspect control settings: Ensure the freezer is not in a demo or showroom mode (consult Siemens manual) and that the set temperature is low enough.
- 5. Basic reset: Unplug for 10–15 minutes, then reconnect and listen for compressor start. If it repeatedly fails to start or clicks off, suspect start components or compressor failure.
- 6. When to call a technician: If the compressor runs continuously but there is no cooling, or if there is oily residue on pipe joints indicating a leak, a certified refrigeration technician must check for refrigerant loss, blocked capillary, or compressor failure.
Note: Sealed-system repairs (recharging refrigerant, replacing compressor or filter-drier) require specialized tools and must not be done by unlicensed persons.
