Possible Causes
Evaporator fan blades contacting ice, Air passing through restricted vents, Loose fan shroud, Misaligned internal panels
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the freezer before removing internal panels. Avoid sharp tools on ice.
- 1. Check for ice buildup: Remove drawers and inspect the rear panel for frost. If heavily iced, perform a full manual defrost.
- 2. Inspect vents: Ensure that air vents are not blocked by food packages. Rearrange items to allow free airflow.
- 3. Access fan area: Remove the rear inner panel and check that the fan blades are not rubbing against ice or the shroud. Adjust or replace the shroud if loose.
- 4. Reassemble carefully: Make sure all internal panels are properly seated and clipped in to prevent air leaks that can cause whistling.
