Freezer not cooling at all; interior remains at room temperature, compressor not running, display may be on.

Safety first: Unplug the freezer before accessing the compressor or control board. Do not attempt sealed system repairs yourself.

• 1. Confirm power supply: Check that the outlet has power by testing with another appliance. Verify that any wall switches controlling the outlet are on.
• 2. Check control settings: Ensure the freezer is not in demo or showroom mode and that the temperature is set to a freezing value.
• 3. Listen for compressor: After plugging in, listen at the back for a low humming sound. No sound at all suggests a control or start device issue.
• 4. Inspect compressor start device: Remove the rear lower panel, locate the compressor, and inspect the start relay/overload for burning or cracking. Replace with the correct SMEG part if damaged.
• 5. Check wiring and connectors: Ensure all harnesses to the compressor and main PCB are firmly connected.
• 6. Control board evaluation: If the compressor does not receive power despite correct inputs and start components, the main control board may be faulty and should be replaced by a technician.
