Possible Causes
Clogged defrost drain hole, Frozen drain tube, Debris or food particles in drain channel, Damaged drain heater (if fitted)
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the freezer before defrosting or working with water near electrical components.
- 1. Empty lower area: Remove drawers and any standing water with towels or a sponge.
- 2. Locate drain hole: At the rear bottom of the freezer compartment, find the small drain opening leading to the evaporator tray.
- 3. Clear blockage: Use a soft plastic probe or pipe cleaner to gently clear visible debris. Do not use metal objects that can puncture the liner.
- 4. Melt ice in drain: Use warm (not boiling) water in a turkey baster or syringe to flush the drain until water flows freely into the tray above the compressor.
- 5. Check external drain tube: From the rear, inspect the drain tube and evaporator tray for blockages or misalignment.
- 6. Reassemble and monitor: After clearing, reassemble drawers and monitor for recurrence over the next few days.
