Possible Causes
Door left open, High temperature condition, Power interruption causing temperature rise
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety note: This is an alarm indication, not an electrical fault, but always unplug before removing panels.
Steps to clear AL/alarm:
- Check door: Ensure the door is fully closed and the gasket is sealing. Remove any items blocking closure.
- Verify interior temperature: If the freezer is warm, allow time for it to cool after correcting the cause (e.g., door open, power outage).
- Silence the alarm: Use the alarm reset or mute button on the control panel. On many Summit models, pressing and holding the alarm button for a few seconds will silence the beeper while the condition recovers.
- Monitor operation: Confirm that the compressor and fan are running and that temperature is dropping over the next several hours.
Call for service if the alarm persists and the freezer does not cool despite the compressor running, as this may indicate a sealed system or control failure.
