Possible Causes

Cabinet thermistor out of calibration, Control board misreading sensor, Thermistor shorted causing false low reading

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the freezer before accessing sensors or the control board.

Steps to address L1/LO:

  • Verify actual temperature: Place an accurate freezer thermometer in the center of the compartment and allow several hours to stabilize. Compare the reading to the display.
  • Adjust setpoint: If the freezer is simply set too cold, raise the temperature setting slightly and monitor for 24 hours.
  • Check for sensor issues: If the display shows very low temperature but the actual temperature is higher, the cabinet thermistor may be shorted or out of calibration. Follow the E1 procedure to inspect and test the thermistor.
  • Inspect control board: If the thermistor tests good but readings are inaccurate, the main control board may be misinterpreting the sensor signal.
  • Replace faulty components: Install a Summit-compatible cabinet thermistor if readings are out of spec. If that does not resolve the issue, consider replacing the main control board.

Note: Extremely low temperatures can damage some stored items. Until the issue is resolved, consider moving sensitive items to another freezer.
