Possible Causes

Normal automatic defrost cycle, Extended defrost due to heavy frost buildup, Defrost sensor or heater issues causing prolonged defrost

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: No immediate repair is required if cooling resumes. Unplug the unit before opening panels for inspection.

  • Confirm if it's a normal cycle: Many Teka no-frost freezers briefly indicate defrost mode. The compressor and fans stop, and slight warming is normal.
  • Monitor duration: A typical defrost lasts 20–40 minutes. If 'dF' remains for several hours and the cabinet warms significantly, further checks are needed.
  • Inspect for heavy frost: If the evaporator is heavily iced, the control may extend defrost. Manually defrost by unplugging the freezer, opening the door, and allowing all ice to melt. Do not use sharp tools.
  • Check defrost components: If extended defrost recurs, test the defrost heater, thermostat, and evaporator sensor as described in other entries.

Test: After manual defrost and re-powering, observe several cycles. If 'dF' appears only briefly and cooling is stable, the system is operating normally.
