Possible Causes
Stuck or shorted temperature sensor, Main PCB not cycling compressor off, Incorrect temperature setting (super freeze mode), Faulty thermostat in mechanical models
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect power before accessing controls or sensors.
- Check settings: Ensure the temperature is not set to the coldest level or that 'Super Freeze' is not permanently engaged.
- Power reset: Unplug for 5–10 minutes, then reconnect to clear any temporary control glitches.
- Inspect and test sensors: Check the freezer NTC for shorts (very low resistance) and replace if faulty.
- Mechanical thermostat models: If turning the thermostat knob has no effect and the compressor runs constantly, the thermostat contacts may be stuck closed. Replace the thermostat.
- PCB fault: If sensors and thermostat are good but the compressor never cycles off, the main PCB relay may be welded closed and will need replacement.
Test: After repair, monitor temperature with a thermometer and adjust settings to maintain the recommended -18°C.
