Possible Causes
Warped or damaged door gasket, Misaligned door hinges, Obstruction from shelves or baskets, Cabinet not level causing door to swing
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: No internal electrical work is needed; unplug only if you will adjust hinges near wiring.
- Check for obstructions: Ensure baskets and food packages are not protruding and preventing full closure.
- Inspect gasket: Look for tears, gaps, or hardened sections. Clean the gasket and mating surface with warm soapy water to improve sealing.
- Warm and reshape gasket: Use a hair dryer on low heat to gently warm deformed areas and press them into shape. Do not overheat.
- Level the cabinet: Adjust the front feet so the freezer leans slightly back; this helps the door close by gravity.
- Adjust hinges: If the door is visibly misaligned, loosen hinge screws slightly, reposition the door, and retighten. Replace worn hinges if there is excessive play.
- Replace gasket if necessary: Remove the inner door trim screws or pull out the old gasket from its channel and fit a new Teka gasket, ensuring it seats evenly all around.
Test: Close the door on a strip of paper at several points; you should feel firm resistance when pulling it out.
