Possible Causes

Loose or damaged communication harness between display and main PCB, Oxidized connectors, Faulty display PCB, Main control PCB communication driver failure

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the freezer before removing the control panel or rear cover.

Procedure:

  • 1. Inspect display connections: Remove the front control panel. Check the ribbon cable or harness connecting the display PCB to the main control PCB. Ensure it is fully seated and not kinked or damaged.
  • 2. Clean connectors: If there is visible oxidation, gently clean the connector contacts with electronic contact cleaner and allow to dry fully.
  • 3. Check harness continuity: Use a multimeter to verify continuity on each conductor of the harness between the display and main PCB.
  • 4. Visual inspection of PCBs: Look for burnt components, cracked solder joints, or moisture damage on both the display PCB and main PCB.
  • 5. Replace suspect board: If wiring is good, replace the display PCB first (often the more common failure). If E5 persists, replace the main control PCB.

Note: Handle PCBs by the edges and avoid static discharge by grounding yourself before touching electronic components.
