Possible Causes
Failed evaporator fan motor, Blocked fan blades by ice or debris, Loose fan motor connector, Main PCB fan driver fault
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the freezer before accessing the fan. Beware of sharp metal and ice.
Steps:
- 1. Access evaporator fan: Remove the inner rear panel in the freezer compartment to expose the evaporator fan assembly.
- 2. Check for obstructions: Inspect the fan blades for ice buildup, packaging, or wiring contacting the blades. Clear any obstructions carefully with warm water and a soft tool.
- 3. Spin test: Gently spin the fan by hand. It should rotate freely without grinding or stiffness. If it binds, the motor is likely failing.
- 4. Electrical checks: With the unit unplugged, disconnect the fan connector and measure resistance across the motor terminals. An open circuit or very high resistance indicates a bad motor.
- 5. Inspect wiring: Ensure the fan harness is intact and firmly connected to the main PCB.
- 6. Replace fan motor: If the motor is defective, install a Toshiba-compatible evaporator fan motor. Reassemble panels, restore power, and confirm that E7 clears and the fan runs smoothly.
