Possible Causes
Blown internal fuse on main PCB, Faulty power cord, Defective main control PCB, Open thermal cutout on compressor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Always unplug the freezer before opening any covers. Mains voltage is present on the control board and compressor terminals.
Steps:
- 1. Verify outlet: Plug a lamp or other appliance into the same outlet to confirm power is available.
- 2. Check power cord: Inspect the Toshiba freezer's power cord for cuts, burns, or kinks. If damaged, replace the entire cord set.
- 3. Inspect main PCB fuse: Remove the control box cover and look for a small glass or ceramic fuse on the PCB. Test continuity with a multimeter. If blown, investigate for shorts before replacing with the same rating.
- 4. Check control panel: If the display is dead but the outlet and fuse are good, the main control PCB or display PCB may be faulty and require replacement.
- 5. Compressor thermal cutout: If the compressor previously overheated, the internal overload may be open. Allow several hours to cool and try again; if it never restarts, further compressor/start device diagnosis is needed.
