Possible Causes
Freezer powered on too soon after being laid on its side, Compressor oil in suction line, Internal compressor damage from improper handling
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Do not attempt to open the sealed system. Risk of refrigerant release.
Steps:
- 1. Rest period: If the Toshiba freezer was transported on its side or tilted, leave it upright and unplugged for at least 4–6 hours (24 hours is ideal) to allow oil to drain back to the compressor.
- 2. Power on: After the rest period, plug in the freezer and allow several hours to see if cooling begins.
- 3. Listen for compressor: If the compressor hums briefly then clicks off repeatedly, the start device or compressor may be damaged.
- 4. Professional service: If cooling does not start after proper rest and basic checks, contact a Toshiba-authorized technician for compressor and start device diagnosis.
