Possible Causes
Worn or damaged touchpad, Moisture under control overlay, Loose ribbon cable to main board, Faulty control panel PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the freezer before removing the control panel.
Steps:
- Remove control fascia: Unscrew or unclip the panel to access the keypad and wiring.
- Inspect ribbon cable: Ensure the cable is fully seated and not damaged. Reseat both ends.
- Check for moisture: If condensation or spills are present, dry the area thoroughly and allow time for evaporation.
- Test buttons: With the panel exposed (but still unplugged), press each button to feel for proper tactile response. A mushy or stuck button indicates a worn keypad.
- Replace control panel: If the keypad is defective, install a new OEM Whynter control panel assembly.
Note: Avoid using excessive force on buttons and do not spray cleaners directly on the panel.
